Dolby Digital 5.1 channel surround sound is also transmited - the entertainment experience that has been imagined but was never possible on standard analog tv's!HDTV reproduces theater quality sights and sound by "digitizing" TV programming, allowing it to be transmitted and received the same way that a DVD player can reproduce movies with big-screen quality effects.  It's a great thing I think!
